Know who is on campus, and who authorised the child who just left

The gate register is the most-used and least-trusted document in most schools. It is legible until it is needed, and it never answers the question that actually matters: is this person still on campus?

SkoolBook gives the security desk a visitor log with an explicit check-out, and gate passes that are verified against an approval raised inside the school — not against a note the student is carrying.

What you get

Visitors checked in and out

Check-in records the visit; check-out closes it. Who is currently on campus becomes a live answer instead of a count of unclosed rows.

Gate passes verified, not trusted

The guard verifies a pass that was approved inside the system. A student leaving campus has an approver's name attached before they reach the gate.

A trail that survives the shift

Visits and verifications are records, so a question about a specific afternoon does not depend on which guard was on duty.

Works on the phone at the gate

The security desk is not a desk. The gate module is available in the mobile app where the guard actually stands.

How it works

  1. 1

    Log the visitor in

The desk records the visit as it happens.

  2. 2

Check them out on the way

An explicit check-out means “who is on campus right now” is a real answer.

  3. 3

    Verify passes at the gate

Gate passes raised and approved inside the school are verified by the guard before a student leaves.

Frequently asked

Does this integrate with biometric or turnstile hardware?

No — visitor logging and gate-pass verification are done in the app by the person at the gate. There is no device integration today, and we would rather state that than imply hardware support that does not exist.

Can we tell who is currently on campus?

Yes, because check-out is an explicit action rather than an assumption. A visit stays open until it is closed, so the open list is meaningful.

How does gate-pass verification work?

A pass is raised and approved inside the school — typically by a warden or admin — and the guard verifies it at the gate. The authorisation exists before the student arrives at the gate, not after.
