Sections, grades and academic years as real structures
Everything in SkoolBook hangs off grade, section and academic year as first-class records rather than as text fields. That sounds like a detail until you roll over an academic year and discover your previous system treated "Class 9-B 2025" as a string.
Fee structures, attendance rosters, assessments and timetables are all defined against this structure, so a rollover is a structural operation rather than a data-entry project.
Attendance that answers a shortfall query
Attendance is marked section-wise by the teacher taking the class, and every student's record is queryable over any period. When a shortfall question arrives — from a parent, or from the board — the answer is a query, not an afternoon with a register.
Note honestly: attendance is marked in the app. SkoolBook does not integrate biometric or RFID devices today. If your school has already invested in that hardware, raise it early in the evaluation.
Fee structures that survive an audit
Fees are defined per grade, per branch and per academic year, with tuition, CGST, SGST, transport, books, uniform and other components modelled separately. Structures require approval before they go live, and every concession is an explicit approval with a reason and a decision-maker attached.
That audit trail is the part that matters. Most schools can produce a fee figure; far fewer can produce, two years later, the reason a particular family paid a different one.
Report cards: what we do and don't have
SkoolBook's grade book handles assessments, mark entry, and AI-assisted performance analysis over a student's own trajectory. What it does not yet have is pre-built board-specific report-card templates — CBSE scholastic and co-scholastic layouts, ICSE formats, individual State Board formats.
For many schools that is a blocker and we would rather you know now. It is on the roadmap. If it is decisive for you, say so at the demo and we will tell you where it actually sits rather than what you would like to hear.
Multi-branch and group schools
Branch is a first-class concept, not a workaround. Fee structures, announcements and staff are scoped to a branch, so a group running several campuses is not forced to either share one configuration or run several disconnected instances.

Does SkoolBook generate CBSE scholastic and co-scholastic report cards?
Not yet. The grade book covers assessments, mark entry and performance analysis, but board-specific report-card templates are still on the roadmap. We would rather tell you that on a public page than during implementation.
Does it work for ICSE and State Board schools too?
Yes. Nothing in SkoolBook is CBSE-specific — grades, sections, academic years, fee structures and assessments are generic structures that fit any board. The board-specific gap is report-card formatting, and that gap applies equally to all boards right now.
Can we run multiple branches under one account?
Yes. Branch is a first-class concept, and fee structures, announcements and staff records are scoped to it, so campuses can differ where they need to and share where it makes sense.
